25 Day Glute Challenge

Who doesn’t want to work on their booty?  I mean, it is almost bathing suit season, so let’s get workin’!

Here is a 25 days glute challenge!  Do these exercises 5 days a week, with 2 rest days somewhere in there!

Squat: Body weight squats, if you want to hold weights…GO FOR IT!

Glute Bridge: Elevate your upper back on a bench/chair/couch/etc, push off your heels to lift your butt, and SQUEEZE at the top. ( you should end up in a table top position).

Clam Shells: Lay on your side, knees bent. Keep feet together and lift/rotate that top knee to the ceiling.  Do half of the reps on one side, then the other half on the other side.

Frog Thrusters: Lay on your back, knees bent and open up your legs so your feet/legs are the in “butterfly” sit position.  Push off your feet and squeeze that tush to the top! (ex. below)

Recipe: Chocolate Peanut Butter Casein Pudding

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE CHOCOLATE AND PEANUT BUTTER. Reese’s are my FAVORITE candy, and I love peanut butter on all things. Since I love this healthy treat at the end of my day, I am going to share it with you!

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CASEIN PUDDING

INGREDIENTS:

1 Scoop Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Chocolate Casein Protein

Water as needed

1 TBSP Natural Peanut Butter

2 TBSP Lite Cool Whip

 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Put protein in a bowl, add water till it is a brownie batter consistency (liquidy, but still thick).  Make sure ALL clumps are gone!
  2. Put in the refrigerator till it sets like pudding.
  3. Take peanut butter and spread it on top. (you can also mix it into the batter before putting it in the fridge!)
  4. Spread cool whip on top!
  5. ENJOY!

I hope you ladies like it!  It is a FANTASTIC “treat” for the end of the day that tastes like a dream!  There are so many different combos for casein pudding! Let me know if you try any others out!

Body Positivity

Recently I stepped into the world on boudoir photography!  It was something I did completely for myself…even though, yes the hubby will benefit from haha.  I wanted to celebrate me, and embrace my body and take awesomely beautiful pictures of it.

I researched a lot of photographers in my area, Lawton/Ft. Sill, and unfortunately didn’t find much when it came to that style that seemed professional.  I enlarged my search area to the Oklahoma City area and came upon Southern Belles Boudoir located in Norman, OK.  Not only were Ashley and Rachel AMAZING, but I never felt so comfortable in my own skin.  I brought 3 outfits (2 t-shirts, and a sparkly body suit), and they provided other outfits/shoes to try while I was there as well.  Hair and make up were also done for me, by a different Ashley, and she was awesome too!  Plus, I got a really full glass of champagne…so that helps!

My session lasted about 3.5 hours, many different poses, outfits, and laughs!  Let me tell you, boudoir photos are no joke, some of those positions are challenging!  I should be getting my pictures sometime this week to pick and choose which ones I like best.  I had the BEST time with them, and honestly would do it again in a heart beat!  I may try to go back to them before we move and do a session with my husband, because they do couples as well!!  I think it would be a super fun date day, and be silly/romantic at the same time!

If you feel anxious or nervous about it, don’t worry, it’s totally normal.  As long as you find the right team to do it with, I PROMISE you, you won’t regret it. Ladies local to the Oklahoma City area, PLEASE go check out Southern Belles Boudoir in Norman, OK.  I couldn’t recommend them more!

Strawberry Vinaigrette

Hey guys!  I told you I would share my recipe for my homemade strawberry dressing!  This was PERFECT for our summer berry salad we had the other night.  The salad consisted of a big bag of mixed lettuce, cherry tomatoes, mandarin oranges, sliced strawberries, blueberries, sliced almonds, and goat cheese! YUM!

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

1 POUND STRAWBERRIES

2 CLOVES GARLIC

2 TBSP OLIVE OIL

1/4 CUP APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

SALT & PEPPER TO TASTE

 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Blend strawberries and garlic till smooth.
  2. Add oil and vinegar, blend till combined.
  3. Put in a cute jar!

Typical Grocery Haul for Our Family

I figured I would post about what I usually buy for my family for a week of groceries.  Now, some of this does last us a little longer than a week, but the majority is for our family of 4 for the week.

I split the shopping up between Walmart and Sam’s Club (they are right next to each other, so that makes it easy).  I typically get our grains/breads/dairy/veggies and some meat at Walmart.  Then we usually buy our bulk meats, veggies, some fruits at Sam’s Club.

As you see in the below picture, we have a TON of fruits and veggies.  During the week, my veggie of choice for my meals at work is green peppers, my husband likes the romaine hearts.  We all love fruit, especially the kids!  We usually get Gala apples, bananas, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries.  This week I threw some mango into the mix!  When it comes to proteins, our staples are chicken breasts, salmon, 96% ground beef, and pork tenderloin.  If Sam’s Club has it available, we will usually get tuna steaks as well. The dairy is usually for the kids, greek yogurt, milk, string cheese, and our grains and breads are usually brown rice, Ole Xtreme Wellness High Fiber wraps (amazing!), and Mrs. Baird’s Reduced Sugar Whole Wheat Bread.

Every other week I usually get some snacks for the kid’s at Sam’s which last about 2ish weeks, like 2 pack cookies, mini muffins, and fruit cups.

 

Health Food is Boring…NOT!

A LOT of people say that eating healthy food is tasteless and BORING!  Well my friends, if you are eating boiled chicken, steamed rice, and steam-able veggies…I would have to agree.  LADIES, LISTEN!  Healthy food does NOT have to be boring!  There are so many different ways to bring out some outstanding flavors in your food!  Check out some of the ways below:

-Intensify the flavors in meats, fish, and poultry by playing around with high-heat cooking techniques.  I love broiling, pan-searing, and grilling to help add flavor.  Browning that outer layer sends your taste buds into overdrive!

-Roast your veggies!  I could eat any veggies roasted, it is my absolute favorite!  Throw your oven on 450 degrees, put your veggies of choice on a pan, spray a little olive oil, sprinkle a little salt and ROAST.  They are done when there is a slight browning.  I personally like them very crunchy and sometimes with different herbs as well!

-Every try caramelizing onions?  DO IT.  This brings out the onion’s natural sugars and a whole new flavor!  Cook them slowly on low heat with a tad of olive oil.  You can use them for toppings, or make a sauce for a meat or poultry dish.

-Cook with PEPPERS!  They add a ton of fun colors to your dish and different flavors as well.  You can go for sweet peppers, hot peppers, and even dried peppers.

-Grate your citrus!  Try adding a bit of TANG to your dish by grating some zest from lemons, limes, oranges, or other citrus fruits!  Adding acidic ingredients helps lift flavors and balance a dish.

-Try incorporating bold flavors, such as cherry, pomegranate, cilantro and more!  These small yes powerful flavors really pack a punch and enhance any dish!

-Last but NOT least, play with condiments!  Horseradish, mustards, chutney, salsas, and many many more will add tons of different flavors and textures to your dishes!
